Love

Sometimes God's answers to things are as simple as this...

As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love.
John 15:9

A new quote from a book I am reading called "The Noticer" by Andy Andrews..."Seeds of depression cannot take root in a grateful heart." I LOVE this! So many times I have battled depression, and I know of so many friends and family members that are battling this now.

A very wise spiritual counselor that God placed in my life, once pointed out to me that depression is a form of idolatry. You may be thinking WHAT?! But it makes perfect sense...when you are depressed where is your focus? It's all about you...how bad you feel, will this sadness ever go away?, I just wish I could be my old self...and so on. You get so consumed you lose your focus. You begin to idolize the "depression".

Our focus should always be on God. I know it's so much easier said than done, but trust me...when you start to seek Him (even in your depression) He hears you. Fully surrender yourself to Him in your moments of sadness and depression. He will change your heart. One of the ways we can "refocus" our thoughts is to keep a grateful heart! Begin there...thank Him for what you have, ask Him to show you more of the things and ways He has blessed you!

I am asking Him right now, to remind me of this very thing the next time I feel a hint of depression trying to sneak its way back in. Keep my heart grateful God...

Blog Change...

If nothing more than to have a quick reference of scriputre that speaks to me to go along with a date and time in my life, I have choosen to now make my blog just that...scripture, or quotes that are speaking to my soul. Some days may have nothing more than a line or two, and some may be filled with my personal thoughts or daily life to go along with it. I am writing for me, but am praying that if you stumble upon this blog, you are to be blessed by reading this as well...

Love that God has shown me this...only wish I had listened sooner.

If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.
Romans 12:18

This touched my heart so deeply today. Hoping it will do the same for you.

We will experience many losses over the years, but the one thing we cannot live without is the one thing we can never lose-Jesus' loving presence.

Audrey's Prayer

Here is a sweet little prayer I found that Audrey wrote...Melts my heart to get a peek at what she talks to God about. :)

Dear God,
Please help us. Please keep us safe and please please help people that are sick, and please nourish their bodies.

Give It Back

Ok, so I have come a looooong way the past few years of my life. God has totally dumped tons of grace, and mercy on me and I just have to say, I am blessed to be able to see it! Not everyone gets the chance to revisit the past, and see just how far they have come, but God has blessed me with an opportunity to do just that.

I recently reconnected with an old friend of mine on facebook. We had a past, a history. I never thought there would be a day where I could have a pleasant conversation with this person again, but there was. That day came this week. I was able to sit and talk with him (via facebook) and I recognized something...only God could heal my heart and allow this to happen. No offence to this person...(he may or my not read this), but I have never had my heart broken like I did with him. I had HUGE plans with him, we were going to get married, raise a family, he was everything that I wanted at that time in my life, he was there when my son was born. But, I just knew that deep down in me, no matter how much I wanted it...I didn't want it if God didn't want it for me. So, I prayed, (something I didn't do too often back then) yep, just prayed, and God listened me. I didn't have to change on single thing I was doing. Didn't have to go to church, give money, read the bible. I just prayed, sometimes I didn't have words, just feelings, and God heard those too.

I wasn't able to see just how he listened to me until this past week. 9 years later. I've known all along that this person was not a bad person, or a jerk, but the things he did still hurt like hell. It took me at least a year just leave the house and talk to people again after that. But in all of that pain and heartache, God was still there, listening, hearing my prayers, working on something better for me. When we talked, God confirmed what I already knew. I have forgiven him, completely and totally. NO strings attached. It even seems like we are going to be able to maintain a friendship. Never in my wildest dreams did I see that happening, but it is amazing what can happen if you let God in. Not only did the hurt get healed, but I am now able to have a friendship with someone I still care about.

I knew when I met Matt, that he was different, that he was something special, but I continued to pray. My relationship with Matt, I put in His hands too. And he did amazing things with us. He has blessed out marriage in ways that I don't even know about yet! I am still amazed at how we are still totally in love. We still act like teenagers.

Bottom line, put God where he wants to be, in control. Give him his job back.

She Finally Lost It!

The tooth that is. My sanity is still in tact! :)

It ended up here...on my blog.

Sorry if you object, but I just uploaded some videos and pictures from my phone, and yup, they ended up here...on my blog.

This one is my sister Allie when we were in Chicago at our "Hen Party". She is posing for a picture and didn't know I was taking a video.

Scary Cereal

I absolutely LOVE Audrey and the way she sees the world. Friday morning I hear her pretend screaming from the kitchen table, and laughing her butt off. She came running into the bedroom hysterically laughing and telling me that her cereal is really scary.

See photo...

Then she ate it so it wouldn't be scary anymore. Funny?

So Kids Growing Up Is Not So Bad...

I know my last post was a little sad, but today God has shown me the PLUS side of children growing up, because as I type this, Wesley is doing the breakfast dishes! SWEET!

I had a momentary freak out with the baby teeth incident, but when I really think about it, it's kinda cool to watch them become more independent, and learn new things. I'll have to admit, yesterday I was crazy enough to even think about having another one. But today things are back into perspective!

Yeah, I don't want diaper duty, or midnight feeding duty again. I love being able to hop in the car and just go now! Life is good, enjoy your kids and celebrate each stage they go through in life, even the baby teeth.

Mixed Emotions

So Audrey comes in my room this morning to tell me that she can't get a piece of apple out from between her teeth. I told her to use her flosser, and just wiggle it out. Then about two seconds later, I hear Wesley scream "MOM!!! That's not an apple! Audrey is getting a new tooth!" What?! She still has her baby tooth?! But low and behold, there it is, a brand new "adult tooth" popping in right behind her baby teeth.
I know this seems like no big deal to everyone else, but it is really hitting me BIG time now that she is growing up. We were at the dentist just last week, and he told me those teeth were about to come through and her baby teeth would be gone soon, but I didn't expect it to be a WEEK later!
Now I can't help but fast forward to eight months from now to the first day of kindergarten. If I'm struggling with baby teeth, what am I going to be like when that day comes? And not to mention, I kinda wanted her to have ALL of her baby teeth in her mouth for her kindergarten pictures. :-(
Oh, well. She's gotta grow up sometime, but so soon really?! Thank you God for her baby years, we are looking forward (but not too much!) to kindergarten with her! I can't wait to have the day to myself (I don't remember what that's like!), but I'm going to miss her too!!!

First Post of the New Year...

Yes I am aware that it is January 16th... not quite New Years but still January!

Christmas was GREAT! We got to spend some time with my side of the family in Austin and in Kerville/Junction with Dad. Wesley got a 22 from Santa (he knows about the jolly big man now because he looked it up in the dictionary) and Audrey got a "heesil" (easel). We visited with Paw Paw and Ya Ya Christmas Eve where Wes got a much anticipated Nintendo DS, and Audrey received an American Idol Dance Dance Revolution Game, and then came home.

The kids were up at 8:00, because we told them that they could not bother us until then! We heard them giggling at 7:45 am, and at 7:59, they were calling our names. I love Christmas morning. Even though Wes is now 9 years old, he reminds me of his little 3 year old self on Christmas morning.

We went to Ganma's (my mom) house after we opened presents at home for Christmas dinner. Uncle Bo and Aunt Charlene were there, along with Karl, K.K. and her husband, Grossemama and Granddaddy my sister's Allie and La (Lauren) and her boyfriend Jeff. The kids got a trampoline from their Aunts, and almost Uncle. (Matt and myself have enjoyed the trampoline almost as much as the kids)

After spending a few days with the Austin clan, we then went to Junction, to spend a few days with Dad. Dad got me and Ipod! I was totally shocked, and Matt got me a docking station to go with it! So sweet, and I totally wasn't expecting it at all! We came back to Austin for New Year's where Audrey came down with a fever at 7:30 pm. That lasted for three days, but I am thanking God that that was all it was!

Now we are home, and FINALLY getting back into a normal routine. And I have finally found some time to blog! Check my facebook or myspace for pics. I'm having trouble uploading in here lately.

Love you all, Merry Christmas/Happy New Year!

Fifty days til' Christmas

Audrey was in charge of the advent calendar today. We told her that there were only five days left, and off she went to change it. It wasn't until later that Matt noticed...

How cute is that?! We both laughed so hard. I love her!

Christmas Parties!

This week was full of Christmas parties. My class had theirs on Tuesday, Audrey's was on Thursday and Wesley's was Thursday too. I was at all three this year! The kids were very happy.

Audrey's party had a book exchange, and she got the book "I'll love you forever". I've read this book before and it a great book, especially for a mom who has a boy. She was happy with it and we have read it only a million times since Thursday.

Wesley's school had a "Sock Hop" party for the entire 4th grade. Matt decorated his holiday socks for him, not too bad either. He wanted one decorated as Rudolph, and one decorated as Clarice (Rudolph's girlfriend). Good Job Matt! They turned the cafeteria into a dance floor and all of the kids danced for the entire hour. Audrey included. A few of these pictures are of Wesley and Audrey dancing the Tango and him dipping her! It was so cute. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention he did the worm for all of his friends to see....yeah, the worm.

Cold Cold and more freakin' COLD!!!

Hello all...I am freezing my butt off, but we all know this is Texas and tomorrow it will all change. Thank GOD! I tell Matt all the time that Virginia would kill me, and I think he finally gets it after hearing me complain yesterday and today.

So, let's play a little catch up real quick. Last weekend we had our annual cookie baking weekend, and the boys had their (now becoming ) annual weekend camping at Rocky's weekend. And a million cookies later, we are now at home. Oh yeah, and the picture of my haircut is now available...

Audrey had her Christmas program last week. Matt tried to get some pictures, but they didn't work out too well. It was cute though. I didn't get to see it because I was behind the risers with my class.

The kids get out of school this week, and will be out until New Years. They are so excited and so are we! I will be trying to go to Wesley's school party on Thursday, wish me luck...

Love you all. Post more later!

Super Saturday

Wesley had his trophy ceremony today at CiCi's pizza. I know, yummy for the kids, questionable for Mom and Dad. He had a blast though. Coach called him Mr. Defence, he was very proud! Wesley said that he wants to play again next season.
Miss Priss got a haircut today! We have found that less hair equals more attitude...hhmmmmm.
Really though, I think it's cute. When we got home all she wanted to do was look in the mirror. Not much different for her normal routine though! :)
